Abstract

Poem Appreciation learning in Indonesian higher education is still dominated by expository method. The lecturers have not employed innovative learning models which are student-centered yet. Meanwhile, Ministry Regulation of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia Number 44/2015 article 15 regarding Higher Education National Standard particularly on the Characteristics of Learning Process states that the  characteristics of learning process in higher education are interactive, holistic, integrative, scientific, contextual, thematic, effective, collaborative, and student-centered (article 11, verse 1). Based on this statement, Poem Appreciation learning requires learning models meeting those criteria. One of effective learning models which is student-centered and can be applied in Poem Appreciation learning in higher education is inquiry-based learning as it is suitable with the characteristics of higher education students and Poem Appreciation materials.
